After taking a few sips of this beer, it’s really hard for me to talk about this beer. That’s mainly because there’s nothing remarkable or out of the ordinary that stands out about it. It has a rather light body for a dark beer or dark lager. It doesn’t really taste all that malty and it doesn’t really taste bitter or sour on any extreme degree. The nose smell seems to be on the sweet side but the mouth feel doesn’t taste all that sweet, if at all. There’s also not much of a carbonation to this beer either.
If I had to say so, it tastes fine. I think the average beer drinker will find this enjoyable in the sense that it’s fairly smooth and drinkable. There’s no real hint of any hops in this beer. If there was, it’s quite faint. The ABV is at 4.8%, which is slightly higher than a PBR (Pabst Blue Ribbon) but it’s not a PBR, mind you.
I think that the avid beer drinker might find this dark beer a bit lacking in the flavor department, if not downright, ordinary tasting. It does leave a bit of sticky residue on one’s lips but otherwise, there really isn’t much of a nasty aftertaste or weird bite to it on the first couple of sips.
All in all, I would say that I’m fairly neutral on this beer. It’s not bad but it’s not great either. It’s easy to drink, has a dark color, but it would seem that the color doesn’t really add anything in the taste department. If I had a choice between buying this again or buying something cheaper, I think I would go for a cheaper beer but that’s just me. Your mileage may vary is all I’m saying here.
