Truth be told, this is actually the Brim’s Cheese Balls except rather than taking the form of a ball, it takes the form of a cheese curl instead. On top of that, rather than the airy texture that you get from the cheese ball, you get a slightly denser texture over the cheese ball version.

Relatively speaking, the cheese puff version isn’t as airy in texture but still it’s not as dense as the name brand of the esentially the same product. In that respect, it’s kind of like hybrid between the two. The cheesy taste is a lot more noticeable in the cheese puff version over the cheese ball version. Why that is seem a bit counterintuitive considering how the more airy texture would actually have a little less munching to get to the actual flavor.

Yet despite that, the cheese puffed version actually taste marginally richer even though I’m sure that the amount of cheese blend flavoring is probably exactly the same. The main difference being the amount of additional surface area that you get to munch on before getting to teh actual flavor of the cheese blend.

I also find that the cheese puffed version is a bit harder in consistency than the cheese ball version. Like quite literally, there are harder bits of puffed cheese material than I found on the cheese ball version. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing but just something worth pointing out.

Otherwise, the more I munch on this, the more I realize that I actually prefer the cheese ball version just because it’s marginally easier to eat passively rather than the cheese puff version. As a side note, Brim’s snack foods have been historically a brand of snack foods where they include a verse from the Bible at the back of the product labeling. I’m not personally religious but I’ve always found it rather interesting to include that right on the packaging and be able to get away with it.

All in all, it’s ok. I would buy it again, if the cheese ball version wasn’t readily available. If you look at the amount given between the two, I think the cheese puff version is only slightly less because you’re actually getting a longer cheese curl out of each piece rather than multiple smaller cheese balls–hence the 2 ounce difference between the cheese ball and cheese puff products so it’s a bit deceiving in that regard because both products are essentially the same thing–just a different shape.
